A. Summary of Procedure Text
Definition
A procedure text is a text which is designed to describe how something is achieved through a sequence of actions or steps. It explains how people perform different processes in a sequence of steps 
Communicative
Purpose
The Communicative Purpose of the procedure text is to describe how something is achieved or accomplished through a sequence of actions or steps
 Generic Structure
(Text Organization)
Goal (Title)
It explains what people want to make
Materials
Everything needed for achieving the goal
(not required for all procedure texts)
Steps
A series of sequence of actions oriented to achieving the goal
Linguistic Features

  1. Menggunakan pola kalimat Imperative (kalimat perintah)
  2. Menggunakan Action Verbs (material process), seperti: turn, put, cut, take, mix, add, wait, kick, push, etc.
  3. Menggunakan Ordering Connective (kata penghubung urutan), seperti: first, second, then, after that, next, finally, etc.
  4. Menggunakan Adverbials (kata keterangan) untuk menyatakan rincian waktu, tempat, cara yang akurat, seperti: for five minutes, 2 centimeters from the top, etc.

Example A:
Goal
HOW TO MAKE SANDWICH
Materials
You need: 2 slices of bread, peanut butter, banana, honey
Steps
  1. Take two slices of bread
  2. Spread peanut butter
  3. Cut a banana into small slices and put them on one of the slices of bread
  4. Pour some honey over the banana slices
  5. Put the other slices of bread on top

Example B:

HOW TO STAY HEALTHY
Materials

Steps
  1. Avoid using any type of tobacco product
  2. Get regular exercise
  3. Eat healthy diet
  4. Determine your risk for certain health problem
  5. Measure your height, weight, cholesterol level and blood pressure
  6. Order test to check your general health or to find certain disease
